Spiced Chunky Apple Sauce
Apple sauce has tremendous versatility! It’s kind of perfect served with cheese and crackers, roasted pork or perogies. But add some ice cream, and ‘voila’ you have a quick dessert!
3- 4 lbs of apples (a mix of Golden Delicious and Macintosh is ideal)
½ Cup (packed) dark brown sugar
1 tsp Dial R for Ras
1 tsp Vanilla
- Peel apples and cut out cores, chopping into large pieces (about 6-8 pieces per apple)
- Combine apples, sugar and spice on a medium sized pot (for stove top) or in a slow-cooker.
- Cook covered at medium heat for 30 – 40 minutes for stovetop, or 60 minutes in a slow-cooker.
- Remove from heat and add vanilla.
- Serve warm or cold.
