Bacon & Pickle Salad with Flavomatic

Made with pickles, bacon and two types of cheese (cheddar & cream cheese) seasoned with Flav-O-Matic, this pasta salad is big on flavour. This salad is ideal for any backyard barbeque get-together, to take to a potluck with friends, or to serve at a casual weeknight family meal. Or make a big batch to snack on throughout the week.


  • 250 g Pasta, cooked al dante and cooled (either macaroni or shell-shaped are great)
  • 4 slices of Bacon, cooked and chopped
  • ½ Cup Mayonaise
  • ⅓ Cup of Greek Yogurt, plain
  • 1 TBSP Sour Cream
  • ¼ Cup Pickle Juice (either sweet or dill, depending on your preference)
  • 1 TBSP Flav-O-Matic (plus more to sprinkle on top to serve)
  • ¼ tsp of Garlic Powder
  • ¼ tsp of Fine Sea Salt
  • 3 dashes of Sriracha
  • ½  Cup of Pickles of choice
  • ½ cup Medium or Old Cheddar Cheese, shredded
  • 1 TBSP of Red Onion, diced
  • ½ Bell Pepper, chopped into small 1 cm pieces
  • Parsley to serve as garnish


  1. Cook the pasta until it is just cooked (‘al dante’), rinse off quickly in cool water and strain. In a bowl, toss the cooked pasta in the pickle juice. Set aside.
  2. In a medium-sized bowl, combine the mayonnaise, yogurt, sour cream, Flav-O-Matic, garlic powder, salt and Sriracha.
  3. Add the pickles, grated cheddar, onion and half of the bell pepper to the pasta and mix. Add the mayo mixture to the pasta bowl and mix well. Garnish with remaining bell pepper, parsley and sprinkles of Flav-O-Matic to serve.
